Why have a committee?

- Manageable number of people
- Don't double up on tasks
- Keep preparation on track
- Sharing the load
- Easier to communicate

How regularly should a committee meet?

Depends on workload and time frame. For the kind of event we are running, once a week is good unless things are falling behind.

What does being on a committee involve?

- Playing your part(make sure to contribute, attend the meetings)
- Being aware of responsibilities
- Communication
- Supporting each other

Why is a shared sense or purpose important?

Keeps everyone focused on the same goal, everyone knows what is needed

What does "being accountable to stakeholders" mean?

Stakeholders - sponsors, judges, attendees, entrants. Being accountable to stakeholders means providing the event promised to them. Collect data and feedback.

What do you gain from being in a committee?

Experience in team work, communication, event management.

What makes a committee effective/non-effective?

Effective - regular documentation, communication, sensible sub-committees, accountability, positive/enthusiastic, clear goals, compromise, problem solving
Non-effective - arguing with no resolution, severe procrastination, poor communication, no leadership, no secretary, no equal job division, poor time management, no defined goal

Roles in the committee, and ideal requirements

Chairperson - Zeta
    - keeps everyone/everything on track, chairs the main meetings, obtains power/the means of production, main mediator.
    Skills/attributes - positive, patient, organised, efficient, approachable, clear communicator(written and verbal), strong networking skills, initiative, problem solver, calm under pressure, good time management.

Secretary - Me
    - take minutes, works with chairperson on agenda, in charge of correspondence, filing 
    Skills/attributes - organised, written communication skills, prioritising workloads 

Treasurer - Thomas
    - budgets/money, financial reports
    Skills/attributes - good with numbers, reliable, organised, good written/verbal communicator, transparent, excel spreadsheets
